Mustang trek

Lying on Nepal's northern frontier, Mustang Region in West Nepal is dominated by ancient Tibetan Culture. There is still a King in Mustang of Bista Dynasty. Mustang was opened for trekkers very recently. To protect the fragile ecosystem of Mustang Region His Majesty's the Government of Nepal issues a limited number of permits with special fee. Geologically lying on the edge of Tibetan plateau, Mustang is famous for its rare barren landscape, ancient caves, rocky valleys surrounded by heart alluring snow capped mountain range and soaring peaks like Mt. Annapurna (8091m), Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Nilgiri Hills (7061m). Moreover the journey of Mustang Region gives a feeling of pure and ancient Tibetan Culture. The highest view point (4100m) in Mustang Region lies to the upper part near the capital of Mustang (Lo Manthang).

This is a fully supported group trek of moderate to rigorous category, requires no special prior hiking experience any healthy person can make it easily. There should be minimum of two persons in a group. Wide and scenic hiking trail passes through a maximum height of 3950 meters (12956 ft).

Detailed itinerary:
Day 01 to 03: Arrive Kathmandu. Day 04: Kathmandu to Pokhara by 40 minutes flight or six hours photogenic drive. Pokhara is located to the west of capital city Kathmandu at a distance of 200 KM. Pokhara is a intermontane valley at an altitude of 820 meters (2689ft) with the great views of Fishtail Mountain and its reflection on the level of Fewa Lake. This is the worth place to visit. Day 05: Early flight to Jomsom (2720m), after the breakfast we start for Kagbeni (2900m). The trail from Jomsom to Kagbeni follows all along the Kali Gandaki River. Camp at apple garden in Kagbeni. Day 06: Kagbeni to Chhuksang (3050m). At places the trail is steep and passes through the ridges. Day 07: Chhuksang to Samar (3700m). Trail passes through the village of Chele along the Great Canyons and mysterious colorful caves. Part of the trail passes through up hill on a rocky saddle. The village of Samar is famous for birds watching and rare green views in a rocky place like upper Mustang. Day 08: Samar to Tamagaon (3850m). While hiking from Samar to Tamagaon one can experience the great views of Nilgiri Hills, Thorang peak and other higher Himalayan range. Day 09: Tamagaon to Tsarang (3650m). The trail passes through the village of Ghemi. We camp at village of Tsarang; the village is famous for ruined muddy fort of Mustang King. Also the village of Tsarang is famous for old monasteries, buckwheat field and canyons. Day 10: Tsarang to Lo Manthang (3760m). Day 11: Explore Lo Manthang. A walled city of Lo Manthang located in the wide valley at Tibetan plateau is the capital city of Mustang. We can visit their Majesty's the King and Queen at their palace. The historical and spiritual city of Lo Manthang is worth place to explore with its beautiful setting and picturesque buckwheat and barley fields. Day 12: Lo Manthang to Ghemi (3690m). Ghemi is famous for the ancient and longest mani wall in Nepal which is said to be the large intestine of a demon, in Ghemi there is a hospital established by a Japanese socialist Tori Kondo (over 70 yr. age) that is the only hospital in Upper Mustang Region. The trail to upper Dolpo region also separates from Ghemi. Day 13: Ghemi to Samar. Day 14: Samar to Tangwe. Day 15: Tangwe to Kagbeni. Day 16: Kagbeni to Jomsom. Day 17: Fly back to Pokhara and same day to Kathmandu. Day 18: Explore Kathmandu. Part of the day shopping. Day 19 to 20: Fly back home.
